Badge worn by an Iowa delegate to the Republican National Convention, Philadelphia, 1900. Gilt brass, silk. Clasp shaped like an American flag, from which is suspended a metal drop inscribed, IOWA, surrounded by scrollwork, and a purple ribbon from which is suspended a medallion with state capitol building (recto) and the legend, REPUBLICAN NATIONAL CONVENTION/ 1900, enclosing, PHILADELPHIA/ PENN./ JUNE 19. The name of the delegate, Brookfield, is etched within a rectangular cartouche. This convention renominated William McKinley and Theodore Roosevelt for a second term. Rare (indeed unique!) and very attractive convention badge. Excellent, with a few light marks and surface wear.
